Career Highlights

1999 - Slick 50 Formula Ford Zetec Championship - 4th in Round 1

1998  - Recipient of the 'RIAC Dunlop Driver of the Year' Award

- Formula Ford Zetec - 'Ford of Ireland' Champion (Won 6 out of 12 races)

1997  - Recipient of  the 'RIAC Dunlop Driver of the Year' Award

- Formula Ford 1600 - 'DHL Star of Tomorrow' Champion (Winner of 10 races)

1996  - National Formula A Karting - Vice-Champion

One of Ireland's most promising young sports persons,  nineteen year old Neil Shanahan is now set to become one of our leading international sports ambassadors.   The current 'Ford of Ireland' Formula Ford Zetec Champion,  this talented racing driver will take his career to a new level after signing for one of the world's most successful racing teams,  Van Diemen International.   Responsible for bringing Eddie Irvine to the British Formula Ford Championship title in 1987 the outfit will be charged with running the campaign of one of the hottest Grand Prix prospects to come out of Ireland for years.

Winning six races on his way to clinching the 1998 'Ford of Ireland' Formula Ford Zetec title,  Neil's achievements have been widely recognised by both the sport and the media.   Awarded Ireland's top motor sport award,  the 1998 'RIAC Dunlop Driver of the Year' he joined an elite few by taking the prestigious prize for a second consecutive year.

Aiming to someday compete in Formula One Neil's level of commitment is second to none,  which has seen him attract many admirers.   Presentation and fitness play an important part for the Dublin teenager as he strives to become Ireland's next Grand Prix star.
